Two Riverhead authors, Dinaw Mengestu and Salvatore Scibona, make The New Yorker’s “20 Under 40” Fiction Writers to Watch List
The New Yorker’s Summer Fiction double issue, now out on stands, heralds 20 fiction writers under 40 who “capture the inventiveness and the vitality of contemporary American fiction.” Riverhead authors Dinaw Mengestu and Salvatore Scibona are among the chosen. Dinaw Mengestu, whose prize-winning debut novel The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears won widespread international acclaim, has a second novel, How to Read the Air, forthcoming in October, an excerpt of which will be featured in The New Yorker later this summer. Salvatore Scibona is the author of the National Book Award Finalist, The End, available in paperback from Riverhead Books. His new story, “The Kid,” is in the issue on stands this week. More…
