About the Author

Claire Vaye Watkins is the author of the award-winning Battleborn. Her work has appeared in Granta, The Paris Review, Hobart, One Story, and Ploughshares. She is an assistant professor at Bucknell University and in 2012 was named one of the National Book Foundation’s "5 Under 35" fiction writers.

Two Riverhead authors are finalists for PEN awards!

Claire Vaye Watkins is a finalist for the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize, awarded to the author of a debut work of fiction, for her story collection Battleborn. Victoria Sweet's God's Hotel is a finalist for the PEN/John Kenneth Galbraith Award for Nonfiction, which honors a distinguished book of general nonfiction possessing notable literary merit and critical perspective and illuminating important contemporary issues.
