About the Author

Joe Pernice is a critically acclaimed musician, producer, and writer. He has written and recorded prolifically with the Scud Mountain Boys and his band, The Pernice Brothers, who have released six albums. In addition to touring extensively for more than a decade, Joe has written a collection of poetry, Two Blind Pigeons, and a lauded novella, Meat Is Murder, part of the 33 1/3 series from Continuum Books. He co-owns an indie music label, Ashmont Records, and his music has appeared on the television shows Gilmore Girls and Six Feet Under and in the movie Fever Pitch. A Massachusetts native, Pernice lives in Toronto.

She has been shortlisted for the UK’s Orange Prize, and has received The Paris Review’s Aga Khan Prize for Fiction, the PEN/Malamud Award, the Rosenthal Foundation Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. In 2007, she was chosen as one of Granta’s Best Young American Novelists. She lives in Los Angeles.
